Excursions

NP KRKA

Fullday excursion - The most beautiful travertine waterfalls in Europe!

After visiting the old town of Šibenik follows the magic world of the Krka river which runs over cliffs and falls in 46m of profondity! Take some time to make a relaxing walk along the river, enjoy the splendid nature and water. You may also visit a small museum and an old mill. In the sommer time you can enjoy the refreshing bath in the river or to make wonderful pictures with your camera.

For two-thirds of its course this virginally pure karstic river, with its seven magical waterfalls and which rises near the town of Knin, flows through canyons. The area is exceptionally rich in endemic flora and fauna, containing 222 types of bird. The watermills along the rivers and above the waterfalls, ruins of fortifications rising above the canyons, the picturesque mouth of the River Čikola above Skradinski buk waterfall - all are specific features of the river landscape. The Krka’s estuary, the 23.5 km-long Lake Pruklja, which reaches up to Skradinski buk is rich in shellfish, freshwater and saltwater fish. Sitting in Lake Visovac, between Roški slap and Skradinski buk (13 km) waterfalls, is a tiny island upon which, set amid a park of sylvan charm, is a Franciscan monastery with a long history. The Krka Monastery (Arhanđelovac) is located in the area of Kistanje, at the point where the canyon widens. The quiet river and lakes are ideal for canoe and kayak tours, but for which it is necessary to obtain a special permit.

NP KORNATI

Fullday excursion - A splendid day on the sea!

Archipelago with its 150 uninhabited islands, islets and reefs is the most indented island group in the Mediterranean. We will sail by boat from one island to another all the way to a bay of extraordinary beauty. It is a paradise for those who know how to enjoy the pure form of fascinating cristal sea. On board you will be served a lunch, including wine or juice.

In the central part of the Croatian Adriatic, on the meeting point of Šibenik and Zadar islands, a separate and by many a specific group of islands, called Kornati, is situated.

Because of its exceptional landscape beauty, interesting geomorphology, diversity of the coastline and especially because of the rich biocoenoses of the marine ecosystem, greater part of the Kornati maritime zone has been declared a national park in 1980.

Today NP “Kornati” occupies an area of about 220 km2 and it includes 89 islands, islets and cliffs, alltogether with a coastline about 238 km long. Despite this relatively large number of islands the continental part of the park forms only 1 of the total area, while everything else belongs to the marine ecosystem.

NP PLITVICER SEEN

NP PAKLENICA

The awe-inspiring torrent gorges of Velika Paklenica and Mala Paklenica which run parallel to each other offer an insight into the unspoilt wilderness that exists not far from the beaches of the Croatian side of the Adriatic Sea, and rank among the most attractive natural areas in the whole of the Mediterranean: dense forests of black pine and beech, watering points for game and delicious springs issuing from beneath the highest peaks of Velebit. Velika Paklenica is a veritable climbers’ Mecca, while cave lovers are drawn by the formidable Manita peć. A rocky trail leads to the entrance into the park, through the gorge to a mountain lodge (6 km). Several other organized shelters are to be found across the mountain. Mala Paklenica, with its dry bed and untamed wilderness of rugged karst and endemic plants and animals, should be negotiated only by experienced hikers.

NP TELAŠĆICA

Telašćica bay is situated in the central part of the eastern Adriatic coast, in the SE part of the island of Dugi otok. Thanks to its extreme beauty, richness and importance, this bay surrounded by 13 islands and islets, together with 6 islets inside the bay of Telašćica itself, was proclaimed a Nature Park in 1988. Thanks to its exceptionally valuable plant and animal life, geological and geomorphologic phenomena, valuable colonies of the sea bottom and interesting archaeological heritage this area became protected in 1980.

The area of "Telašćica" Nature Park is distinctly contrasted area with quiet and peaceful beaches and laid down coastline on one side and wild and rough cliffs on the other. It is the area of the Aleppo pine-trees and holly oak woods on one side and bare rocky grounds on the other. It is the area of cultivated fields of vineyards and olive-trees, as well as the area of degraded forms of the flora covering dry habitats.

NOVIGRAD

As if it were situated in the backwaters, under the ruins of the ancient fortress, there lies one of the most picturesque little towns of the Adriatic – Novigrad in Dalmatia.

It is a fascinating town with a stormy past, nowadays an oasis of peace for fishermen and tourists, a sleeper made of stone, the closest to the Croatian tourist slogan: Here lives the Mediterranean as it used to be.

Novigrad lies hidden deeply in the bay of the sea which bears its name and it has preserved largely its original medieval architectural form. The sea was full of pearl shells not that long time ago while today it is crystally clear, with abundancy of fish and shells. Nowadays Novigrad enjoys in its peace and quiet after the centuries of the stormy past. The fortress which dominates over the town was also the prison for the queen Elizabeth Kotromanić. The strong walls tell you so many marvellous stories from the history and the town is woven of them, being almost unique in this part of the world.

Novigrad offers accommodation in its hotel, camping and with private renters of the apartments, rooms and holiday homes.

Far from city crowds of other, more modern destinations, once you leave Novigrad you will always feel the sensation of bliss and peace of mind. If you are looking for a vacation somewhere in a beautiful natual environment without a human touch, but preserving its original form, then our little town is the right destination for your holidays for the years to come. This is the place for those who find beauty in the old stone portals, in the streets where time has stopped. It is the place for those who know how to enjoy in everyday scenes of numerous fishing boats which go to the sea and then come back, take out their catch, clean their boats and mend the nets. It is the place for those who appreciate the still of the night when the only sound comes from the army of crickets.

NIN

Halfday excursion – Nin Sightseeing - The oldest Croatian royal town!

The town of Nin was an important royal and cultural center through the croatian history and the testimony of that fact are the monuments from the 8th and 9th century.

VELEBIT FOTO SAFARI

Many attractive spots in the Velebit area can only be reached by all-terrain vehicles (Velebit Jeep Safari). You will visit Tulove grede and the Zrmanja river canyon – localities where the legendary Winnetou movies were shot. You will drive historical Velebit roads and visit the Krupa monastery. We recommend that you should visit the spring of Krnjeza, the shortest river in Croatia. Its source is located at the end of a 60-m deep cavern decorated with calcite curtains and icicles at its entrance. After only 600 m, it flows into the Zrmanja River. Although short, the river is up to 45 m deep in some places, and the water is very cold and clear, perfect for drinking.
